Example of a poorly resized
image
If you are on a high speed
connection both of these images have already finished loading. If
you are on a dial-up connection, the image on the right is crawling to
fill
in. WHY?

|
This image
has been resized to 350 X 263 with picture editing software.
It is 35K in size.
|
This image
was resized by the web page program to 350 X 263. The actual
image
is still 1280 X 960 which is how the camera created it.
803K in size.

So even though the pictures appear
the same, they are actually different sizes. Resizing an image
will speed up retrieval times and use less space. A win-win
situation.
You don't have to wait for the
second picture to finish loading, you get the idea.
