As predicted by
our friends, the “conformation” bug was going to hit us someday.
When Lucas came to our home we were showing Sydney in Obedience.
We had watched a lot of Conformation and decided to take the
plunge. Lucas was our first conformation dog and the first male
Aussie in the house. After a little handler training, Lucas made
his big debut. He was awarded "Best Puppy" at his first show and
has taken a few class wins and a Reserve WD as an adult. Lucas
has a flowing
sidegait, a striking red coat and a wonderful disposition.
We pulled Lucas
from the Conformation ring to allow him to mature. Lucas is a
great dog but he didn't turn into the 'showdog' we were looking
for. But he is the "Big Dog" in our hearts so he is staying right
here with us. In the mean
time we've worked him in basic Obedience. We don't get to work
him as often
as we like but it started to pay off with an effortless CGC. He
ran
through it like it like it was nothing. I really need to get off
my
backside and get this boy out there. Wish us luck.
