The Calabria Team

Calabria has more than just show dogs.  We also have companions that make up the rest of our happy pack.  And if you've ever seen us at a show, these guys are probably around somewhere.

Blue Sydney of the Meadow
ASCA/AKC CD HIT CGC

"Sydney"

Head of the Athletic Department
AKC and ASCA registered
DOB: June 10, 1995
ASCA and AKC CD, CGC
Sydneys first CD
Sydney at home

Sydney is our first Aussie.  We first saw her while visiting a working cattle ranch in the hill country outside San Antonio.  We were watching her cousins work cattle when her breeder released the puppies.  Syd was eight weeks old and romping around the yard.  We noticed her ears right away and she noticed us.  She came straight to us and wanted to play.  Her siblings stopped by for a look but we weren't interesting enough for them (and we didn't have food).  Syd had selected us.  We talked to our friends and vet about her ears and they said not to worry about them.  We weren't interested in conformation so it didn't matter.  They were right.  Her energy level, bright expression and willingness to learn have made her a joy.
Syd finished her AKC CD at 18 months old and her ASCA CD at 20 months.

Tory's Luckie Snow Angel

"Angel"

Chief of Security
Breed: Chow Chow
AKC  registered
DOB: September 24, 1997
Angel
The moving water fountain

Angel came into our life due to a tragedy.  When we lost our beloved Tory to an auto accident, we thought of getting another chow to help us through the loss.  We never knew a dog could leave such a hole in our lives.  We already knew about the breeds' peculiarities so we started our search.
Angel went straight to our hearts like all little puffballs do.  The breeder had named her “Snow Angel” so we kept it.  It seemed fitting.  Angel has displayed an uncanny ability to have all of Torys’ best traits and nuances (something she couldn't have learned from Mariko).  After more than eight years we are convinced that Tory has returned.  The similarities are to scary.
Angel has grown up in an environment of Aussies.  We think, that she thinks, she is an Aussie.  She plays like an Aussie.  I wonder what she'd do at an instinct test?  Although Angel is far from a show dog, you can usually find her in our grooming area acting as security chief.  She'll give you the evil eye if you stray too close but it lasts only a few seconds.  Angel likes to hang out in an X-pen at the shows and views the whole thing as an inconvenience.

Darwin's Image of Calabria
"Calie"

Stand-In Mom
AKC & ASCA Registered
DOB: 23 October, 1998
ASCA and AKC pointed

The Boog

Calie is our fourth aussie and our first conformation bitch.  Destiny played a part in her coming to our home.  She was originally supposed to go to another home.  But when that owner changed her mind, she came to us.
Calie loves the conformation ring.  She took her first Reserve at 10 months of age.  Because she is owner-handled and limitedly shown, she does not have the points that most dogs do at her age.  The South Texas show circuit is a tough one and we'll keep hammering away at those shows.
Calie took a break to have puppies but she's back.  Calie made a move to the Altered ring and handed the AKC duties to her offspring which is fine with her.
