60th anniversary of The Berlin Airlift
The Airlift Memorial on Luftbruckenplatz at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin.
Each upward reaching prong of the structure represents one of the 3 air corridors used during the
Berlin Airlift "Operation Vittles". The names of the British and American Airmen who
died in this great enterprise are inscribed on the base of the memorial.

The C-47 typifies the weary WWII aircraft which flew many of the airlift missions.
The bright red engine covers show courage
and the audacious reality of airlift support to an isolated people.
The globe rising represents the reach of air support by Air Power, and at a time when the Red Clouds
of war are fading on the horizon, a new menace shows it's ugly head, a "Cold War" of strife and rancor, . . . people held
by a monolithic power machine in mindless slavery and hopelessness.

A limited signed and numbered print poster on fine art paper from an original acrylic painting on panel.
The art was created as a special presentation after my Air Force Art program trip to Germany in 1984.
It was presented at the New Jersey Governors Military Ball sponsored by the McGuire Foundation
at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.
