
They treat it as a sin against God - and they treat the person as a practicing sinner as long as they continue in it.
Homosexuals have told me that I am wrong. They have told me that it was "God" who made them the way they were, and that they couldn't help being the way they are. They tell me that he is all-loving and would never condemn anyone for being who they really are. I have heard from those who claim to be "religious" tell me that I am wrong on my views of homosexuality as well.
These same people also tell me that I am intolerant of the homosexual lifestyle and therefore do not show forth God's unconditional love nor His constant forgiveness. They say I chose to pick out several of those passages that are most damaging from God's word that tend only to show my point of view concerning the homosexual, while seeming to ignore all those general "love" passages which show that God loves all sinners, all the time.
How am I honoring God by doing what I do? I honor Him by not barging into their house like "I" would like to do and hit them over the head with the Bible and impose my love on them by dragging them out of there saying, "Repent! Repent, because I know the Truth and you don't, therefore I command you to repent of that sickening lifestyle immediately or else you'll end up burning in hell!!!"
Instead (because they're old enough to make their own choices) I say to them what God says, "I love you, BUT"! "I love you, BUT I want you to know that so long as YOU continue living in open defiance of God and myself in this way, then you give me no other choice, than to tell you (as an obedient servant and follower of my Lord, Jesus Christ) that I cannot tolerate and do not condone what you are doing, therefore I choose not to be around you as long as you keep on choosing to do what you do without sincerely seeking God's help."
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
So, just as God showed us His Love by giving us His Son to lay down His life in forgiving us of our sins and rose from the dead to free us from sins power over us, He then tells us all to: "Repent of your sins, Come to Me, and Go and sin no more".
He tells us in no uncertain terms...
We (who now know the meaning of Grace and Truth) in turn then take this same and glorious Gospel to the world and preach it to all of the lost sinners (as I once was) out there. We tell them all this because we love them! If we didn't love them we wouldn't tell them. Then we'd be no different than the world, who's sole advice and knowledge comes from their own worthless/powerless flesh!
That's all simple enough! Yes, I love them, but not any more nor less than I love all of the lost sinners who Christ died for. To proove that I do love them in light of what God (not man) says, I have told them what they need to hear, "that God does not approve of their lifestyle and considers it to be a detestable sin, and that because He doesn't want them to end up in hell and neither do I, therefore we want them to repent of (i.e. turn away from) those sins, for their own sakes".
Do we do and say what we do because we HATE them? No! We tell them these things because we LOVE them!" It is precisely because we do love them that they hear exactly where they stand with God and with us... and all because of the "choice" that they themselves made. So, by speaking the Truth in Love, we place ourselves on the firing line - we place our words against the philosophies of the world - we place our persons open to criticizm and misunderstanding all because we Love "God"??? Absolutely! Because we love "them"? Exactly!
We preach the word of God because we personally know and can verify the importance of how God's Love can change any man (homosexual or otherwise), causing him to repent of his sins and Go and sin no more. We want them to know how the Truth of God's word is unchanging and will stand as a testimony to Him forever. We want them to know with no uncertainties that what they do is evil in God's eyes, and they will pay dearly for it unless they repent. We also want them to know that God's Free Gift does and will free them of their sin...
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2 Corinthians 6:17-18
I wonder if any of these same people who have judged us as being unloving and uncaring and cold, really do have the love of the Truth in them, and understand for themselves the meaning of the first and greatest commandment in Christ's book? -
Matthew 22:37 - "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."
The simple truth is that if our love for God doesn't supercede the love for everything and everyone else then the foundation for judging/discerning what is of God from what isn't, is in total chaos. That is the case here! It seems that the homosexual, adulterer, whoremonger, prostitute, etc. have either been under-judged or have not been judged all these years by those who profess to be Christians. It is all because there is so much "permissiveness" going on these last days in watering down the Gospel in the church that Truth, Salt and Light are fast disappearing from the scene... forever!
This leaves little doubt that something is terribly wrong between Christians like us who speak up and judge rightly (who then are deemed cold and heartless by the rest of the world) and those who think they're Christians but who (like the rest of the world) remain quiet and won't judge between right and wrong at all.
Jesus prayed that we would all be "one" in the Truth, and Paul prayed that we would all speak the same thing, and that there would be no divisions among us; but that we would be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Jude also exhorted us to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
The Faith is fast disappearing as well! Much of what is passing itelf off today as "Christianity", is ludicrous! By comparing themselves to Paul in Romans 7:16-24, as a sinner who can't stop himself from sinning, they (including homosexuals) use excuses like this to continue in their sinful lifestyles, even though that particular verse was written to show how Paul was under the conviction of the Holy Spirit at the time and what he came to understand while under that conviction.
It was while under this conviction that Paul was describing how it was impossible for him to remain sinless so long as "he" (his old self) lived. Paul described what this conviction was like and how it applied to him trying to live a sinless life but he could not, no matter how hard he tried! Why? Because he was trying to life that life IN THE FLESH! This all happened to him BEFORE he (his old man) became crucified with Christ and he became born again.
What amazes me the most today is how so many of those who like to call themselves, "Christians" (i.e. "followers of Jesus Christ") take those verses completely out of context and use them as a sorry excuse for their own sinful life-style and continual homosexual sinning, saying, "They (we) can't help it", as they refuse to acknowledge any of Paul's earlier verses on the subject...
Romans 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
(2 Peter 3:16 - As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.)
With that said, calling a homosexual what he is before God (a sinner who is without excuse), and calling the Pharisees of Jesus' time a brood of vipers and a bunch of white washed sepulchers, stems from the same singular Love He had for the Father! It is because Jesus LOVED His Father beyond anyone or anything that He obeyed, spoke and did His will that He could, by the Spirit and without any condemnation, call the pharisees a brood of snakes and a bunch of hypocrites. Because that is exactly what they were in God's eyes!
Now... the answer to the question in the title of this article, is that a Christian should view homosexuality in EXACTLY the same way God's word says we should!
Below is a list of a few of the things that God has already said about it (and His word is final):
Genesis 2:23 - And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Leviticus 20:13 - Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Leviticus 20:13 - If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Romans 1:26 - Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.
1 Cor. 6:9 - Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
Eph 5:11 - And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
1 Corinthians 6:18 - Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body; but he that committeth fornication sins against his own body as well.
Jude 1:7 - Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
All of these passages are very clear and easy to understand. This is the judgment of "God", not man. The man of God merely speaks what he hears God saying through the Spirit, confirming what God had already said in His word: "Thy will be done".
First of all no one is going to blame God for anything! He created men and women to be married to each other, to become one in Christ. God made it so that the man is enhanced and fulfilled by his wife and the wife is enhanced and fulfilled by her husband. This is still God's plan.
Secondly God calls all homosexual acts, "Detestable". In another place He tells us that the wicked practice such things and that they will have no inheritance in His kingdom. In another He calls homosexual relations shameful and unnatural. God leaves no doubt that homosexuality is a sin. We need to examine what sin means: It means rebellion against God! It means an act done against God's word or will.
Now if God were to say that having blue eyes or brown hair is a sin, then He would be totally unfair, because we have no control over such things, therefore it's not a sin. The same goes for homosexuality. If we were born that way, and therefore had no choice or say in the matter and yet God calls it a sin, then He is unjust. So either God is unjust, or people are not born homosexuals! We know that God is not unjust so that leaves us with only one conclusion: People are not born homosexual but 'choose' to be that way. It's a "clear" choice! Therefore, it is obvious that this fallen condition is not the same as our being born with brown or black hair.
When I tell a homosexual that 'they alone' have chosen that sinful lifestyle apart from God, they often spout off, and tell me they couldn't help it, and/or that they were born that way and would never have chosen to be homosexual. So who is right? Them or God? Just because a person feels a tendency towards being a homosexual does not make them a homosexual!!! It is the ACT itself that makes them one! It is not like being born with a gene for having brown or black hair.
We are all born into this world as sinners and we all choose to sin one way or the other. We are not all tempted in the same ways, but we are all evil and will choose to sin in one way or another. All sin is outward rebellion against God! But there is a sin that is exceedingly sinful. It is the sin that concerns the use of our bodies. God's word in 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us quite clearly that sins against our body; like adultery/prostitution, incest/beastiality, homosexuality/lesbianism are these very kinds of sins. They are "detestable sins" He did not make man to be like this!
Let me make a point: If I am a liar; meaning that at certain times I find that it is easier for me to lie than to tell the truth and face the consequences of my own actions, that does not mean that I have a "lying gene" in me that caused me to lie. What it means is that I have a "tendency towards" the sin of lying. Or what if I am hot tempered and have a hard time controlling my temper? Does that mean that I have a special God-given "hot temper" gene that I can use for an excuse to go on sinning, or does it show that I have a tendency towards the sin of unrighteous anger?
Why would I find it hard to control my lying or my temper? Or for that matter the tendency towards homosexuality? The answers and the choices are right before us in God's word:
Romans 6:6 - Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;
Romans 6:16 - Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Romans 6:20 - For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
Do you see the point that the Spirit of Truth through Paul is making? The "Self" needs to be put to death in ALL of its tendencies! When we are sinners we are slaves to sin, we are under sin's control, serving it, and therefore as long as "we" (i.e. 'the uncrucified self') live we cannot just decide to up and quit sinning. It doesn't work that way because "sin" holds POWER over us so long as "we" (i.e. "our uncrucified old man") live - we are SLAVES to it.
Verses such as Romans 6:6 shows the need for the old self to be put to death with Christ on the cross. Yet in a very real sense, "sin" is a choice, it is a choice because God offers us the ability to be free from the slavery of sin altogether and become the servants of righteousness instead. Please, please understand: Salvation is not just the forgiveness of sins, but it is also the freedom from sin! It is a WHOLE NEW MAN in Christ...
2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
So the choice one must make isn't really to be a homosexual or not, because the uncrucified sinner can't just up and quit sinning. Impossible! This leaves him with one of two options. The options are that he can confess his sins and follow/obey God who offers him both forgiveness and freedom from those sins of his - OR - he can choose to remain in his sins, whatever they are. The choice is up to him!
Upon our old man being crucified with Christ, God then takes and puts New Life into the LIAR (the one who has the tendency to lie) and puts in him the Spirit of Truth - and into the one who had the problem with his temper He changes it from "self" righteousness to a righteous and holy zeal for the Truth - and into the X-Homosexual or X-Lesbian He puts His Word, taking and calling them to Himself!
So, whenever people try to tell you that they were born as homosexuals, or liars, or whatever, what they are really saying is that they should NOT have to answer to God because it is NOT their fault. They end up blaming God for their sins! Do you see this? We were all born sinners and we all sin, but that does not mean we have no responsibility for those sins.
What it all means is that we must come to God (remembering that it is "Christ alone" who is the moderator between God and man - 1 Timothy 2:5) and confess those sins, confessing that we understand that we are lowly sinners who need to STOP our sinning and need a Savior to save us from them and fill us with His life. We need to realize that God sent His only Son to be that very Savior and Life-Giver... IF ...we would but lay hold of Him in obedient faith to God, then we would be able to go and sin no more, in fulfillment of His holy word (John 5:14).
So how should a Christian view a homosexual? In exactly the same way we view any other lost soul, with compassion and love, because Christ laid down His life for all men, and their soul is no more filthy and dirty than ours was before we were cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.
As for the homosexual, if he continues to reject Christ and the Gospel by standing opposed to and insulting the very Truth that we hold dear and love above all, then they are the ones who give us no choice as Christians (parents or otherwise) except to continue obeying the same Truth that we so love and deem most precious and that we are called to serve, and separate ourselves from them (2 Corinthians 6:14-17).
Numbers 16:26 And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
We must never soft pedal the Truth as so many do today, because homosexuality is a "most detestable sin" in the eyes of God. Unless we boldly call it what it is before men and preach the Gospel of Grace to them, they will never understand that they need forgiveness for it and freedom from it...
2 Timothy 4:2-5 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
So, until the day they are willing to admit their sinful condition as being detesable, willful and outright rebellion against God and repent of it, there can be and will be no forgiveness for who they are nor will there be freedom from what they do...
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
However, these "views" I express are not my own, nor are they personal opinions, but are what God alone says, and I choose to honor God and what He says, and not what men say.
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. Eph. 5:11-12
(We're all Free to do or not do what He says. The choice is ours! He will force no one to come to Him or obey Him! If we choose not to receive the Spirit of Truth and obey Him (because we don't honor and love Him nor His words), then don't bother coming to Him at all. The choice to do so or not is ours alone!)

23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
