Discerning Unbiblical Teachers
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Matt 7:15)
Discerning Unbiblical Religions
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them (Romans 16:17)
Discerning Unbiblical Teachings
...even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies... (2 Peter 2:1)

1 Cor.13:
Eph 3:
Col 2:
9. For we know in part, and we prophecy in part.
10. But when that which is PERFECT is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13. And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the
greatest of these is love.
18. May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19. And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all
the fulness of God.
2. That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3. In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Some people have used ...
"but when 'the perfect' is come, then that which is in part shall pass away"
Many of todays church goers use this so called, "Bible truth", and turned it into a "Church law", in order to claim that "The Perfect" has come in todays "Perfect Bible". By making this a "Church law" they have effectively done away with the "gifts of the Spirit" (that are still in operation today). By believing and teaching this false doctrine to others they have effectively QUENCHED the Holy Spirit! They believe that the gifts of the Spirit have all passed away since we received the Completed text (KJV) or ("THE PERFECT") written word of God. We already have the "Perfect" in the completed Bible" to guide us, they say, thus they effectively set aside the leading of the Holy Spirit for the intellectual leading of the completed text of the Bible.
HOWEVER, I ask you, since when did that job of enlightening us to the Truth (John 16:13) be taken away from the Spirit of Truth ("Who is so PERFECT that we need none to teach us" - 1 John 2:27) and given to another, meaning to the KJV or completed Bible???
AT ALL TIMES, we must -- Always Endevour -- to keep all the Scriptures in their proper context/setting/meaning/place, including 1 Corinthians 13:9-13, ever comparing Scripture with Scripture in order to "Rightly Divide and obey the word of God - SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING". This is an absolute ..."MUST"!
In rightly dividing the scriptures Paul is saying: "We now know in part (in refering to being a child concerning spiritual things in 1 Cor.13:11) ...but When the perfect is come (in refering to becoming a man concerning spiritual things in 1 Cor. 13:10)... then what we know in part will be done away with. Today we see (by the eyes of faith) as if in a cloudy mirror...but then it will be face to face...now we know in part...but then we'll know even as we are known by God."
Take Special Notice of what "Jesus" said....
... to mean "when" the Bible was completed, at the inclusion of the book of Revelation, that's when God's 'less than perfect gifts', as they can only refer to them, passed away.
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
Compare: "when that which is Perfect is come" in 1 Cor.13:10, with,: "when he, the Spirit of truth, is come" in John 16:13. What do you see? The word or the Spirit being mentioned??? "WHEN HE IS COME..."
(Ask yourself 'Why' can't they bear them now? Simple! "Because the Spirit hadn't been poured out upon them as yet." They understood Spiritual things about as much as children understood earthly things.)
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you." John 16:12-14
(Jesus tells them that when the Spirit of Truth is come then they will understand! In other words, this is when they'll "Grow Up"!)
Let me state these "7" things...
1. "The Word of God in and of itself is Perfect"! It always has been, even from before the foundations of the world! Seeing as it is, "God Breathed", it cannot be improved upon.
(The problem with men who want to do away with the gifts by these Scriptures, is that they want to place the whole Bible under one heading: "Perfect", and thus treat -"IT"- as a "god/Idol" in place of the Life-Giving Spirit of God.
So rather than keeping in context each and every word and meaning, and worship the God who inspired those words as "The Only Perfect", they treat "The Bible" that way instead!)
2. They fail to realize that Jesus did "many more things" and said "much, much more" than what is written in the Bible (John 21:25). How can "The Bible" then be "Perfect" without also including all these works and words?
(The Bible is only "WRITTEN IN PART" even today (one example: Remember the 7 thunders in Revelation 10:4?). The Bible contains all that we need to have - no more, no less.
Therefore I ask you, "Can their version of "Perfect" be called perfect without including ALL that Jesus ever did or said?" Not the way I see it!)
3. The "Perfect" here is dealing with when we see God "FACE TO FACE" (2 Cor.3:18). Today many see Him through the eyes of faith - meaning they behold Him as if in a glass darkly, unclearly... but then (when we receive the Spirit - adding the fruit of Love to our Faith, thus increasing it) we will be seeing/knowing Him as He really is, through the eyes of the Spirit.
(Understand that Paul is dealing with "Seeing" here, not with written words and books that go to complete the Bible, etc....but SEEING God! "Except a man is born again...he can neither see nor enter the kingdom of God"! - John 3:3 and 5)
4. There is not one scripture saying the gifts have ever passed away at any time.
(Can the true spiritual gifts of God be 'less' than perfect or be deemed, 'inferior'? I think not! The word of God has its place and the gifts have theirs. Look at Jesus' own ministry with both -- and He IS the Word of God!!)
5. I know that what passes off as the "gifts" today in many (ministries!?) is purely fabricated illusion.
(False prophets use (i.e. fabricate) these [gifts] of theirs as money making occupations.)
6. To say the gifts have passed away on the premise that the "Perfect" has come (i.e. the Bible), without presenting any proof is to "take away" from the Word of God and effectively "Quench" the Holy Spirit!
It seems to be all or nothing. Either heavy on the gifts, and light on the written word or visa versa. (Yes the gifts are sorely abused by the profiteers (like Simon the sorcerer - Acts 8), but so too is the Bible used as a weapon by the biased and self-righteous.) In scriptures as 1 Cor.14:1 and others, Paul is telling us to follow hard after love, and seek after spiritual gifts, especially prophesy, in order to edify the church. Remember, it is the Spirit of prophecy which gives us the testimony of or witness to the Lord Jesus Christ.
7. The gifts are "Spiritual"...of the Spirit. But...So too is the "Word"...and "The Real Word of God = THE Perfect" is none other than "Christ Himself"! It's not some "outward" book but an "inward Spiritual" reality and proof of the living Son of God written upon our hearts.
("My words are Spirit and they are Life", says Jesus. (They're much, much more than the written word!)
And when He-The Perfect-comes; upon our receiving the Holy Spirit through faith in Christ; Who then reveals to us His glory, then that, my friends, is when we'll need NONE to teach us - 1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known".
For the Spirit will take what is Jesus' and reveal it (i.e. His glory, power, perfection, holiness, etc.) to us. (John 16:15)
The word says: 'For we "KNOW" in part'. It doesn't say: 'For we "HAVE" in part'. Therefore how can "the Perfect" be the Bible when one knows "in part"??? "Perfect" means just that: "Perfect"!
Remember Jesus' own words: "John 5:39-40 - "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life." Here's PROOF that the people (and some did) could have come to Him even before the New Testament was written!
We KNOW Jesus in part through the Bible right now... But when the PERFECT comes (i.e. when "We Come to Him" for eternal life) is when we receive the Spirit of Truth; who in turn enlightens our understanding, and we are baptized into Christ. Without FAITH nothing of God can be Substantiated (Hebrews 11:1). It is by Faith that the Evidence of "Spiritual Things", "Unseen Things", "The Perfect", comes.
A Christian must never allow himself to be deceived. He has a CHECK in his spirit if something is not quite right (i.e. is not of God), because the word of God Lives within him. The perfect word living in his heart is what sustains him. "But lives by every word out of My mouth" (Matt.4:4) is oh, so true. He wants nothing less! His senses have been exercized to discern both good and evil. He takes what is hidden and compares them to the known or revealed (i.e. agreeing with what the written word says) and judges for himself what is and what isn't of God.
Any man can read the Bible. But those who make a "god" (an idol) out of it have failed to see; just like the Jews had before them, Jesus' own words: 'MY WORDS ARE SPIRIT AND THEY ARE LIFE' - - '...and read and study though they might, 'Yet they don't come to Me in order that they might have life' (John 5:39-40).
These are not just "words". If they're NOT alive and on fire in your heart, then no amount of paper can hold them and turn them into what they aren't: 'Spiritual and alive'. They're not just words we can use to set our likes and dislikes by or establish our doctrines by that make us all unique ("Unique?"). How 'Unique' is it to have one denomination set apart from many hundreds of others, and having us think it's the only one....(where is The Perfect here)??? Plenty of dead, HEAD Knowledge though!
We need to grow up in the knowledge of God. We need the written Word for discernment (in order to check our CHECK), yes, and as a light to keep us from our being deceived in our faith (and it will do this WHENEVER it is rightly sought and applied to us by the Spirit!).
Many scriptures as: Matt.5:38; Luke 6:40; John 17:23; Rom.12:2; 1 Cor.2:6; 1 Cor.14:20; Eph.4:13; Col.4:12; 2 Tim.3:13; Heb.5:14; James 1:4; James 1:17; 1 Pet.5:10; etc. speak of our becoming Perfect.
WHEN THE PERFECT COMES = Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
But the Word without the Spirit behind it (giving it life) is DEAD and COLD, therefore it is: "Death warmed over"! What good is having the Bible and a wrongly dividing false Spirit working together?
As you can see much is stressed about being Perfect which was written long before the Book of Revelation and the KJV were written! If they had to wait for the coming of the completed Bible text or the KJV, then none of them would have become Perfect. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance (Rom.11:29) because they are perfect. Compare James 1:17 and Rom.11:29 with Luke 11:13 and understand the reference given to the Holy Spirit and how it applies to Him as being the Perfect Gift from above, and not to the completed written word.
Jesus IS...
{a} We must come to Him (because we believe on Him) but ONLY under the conviction of the Holy Spirit, AND,
Therefore, Anything falling short of a, b. AND c, is falling short of the glory of God!
For further study on this teaching go to: The Coming of... "The Perfect".
{a} The Way,
{b} The Truth, and
{c}The Life!
{b} We must be intent on obeying Him (because we love Him) completely, AND
{c} We must be ready and eager to lay down our own lives (because we want to glorify Him) as all that matters, eagerly awaiting His return.

Dr. Ralph Colas recently attended a crusade at Penn State University led by the Brownsville Assembly of God's staff (see 10/1 CC). He sent us a big pictorial book (1997) by insider Cathy Wood chronicling the Brownsville "revival." She gives first-hand accounts of charismatic happenings - healings, people laying on the floor for hours ("completely out of it"), "heads shaking or jerking," in a "dazed, drunken condition," "woozy," "dancing in the Spirit," and strange bodily manifestations.
Wood says (2/10/96): "Full-blown revival broke out along with many being slain in the Holy Spirit for hours as waves of something came, cleaning us all out. We did not know what hit us..." She said (2/16/96): "...[We] have heard over 170 sermons in a row that are very similar." She tells (2/18/96) of "dancing in the Spirit" and being "completely lost in another place." She added: "I felt like I had jumped off a ski slope and was flying. It was so glorious to be free. I did end up on the floor right in front, but no one noticed except my husband who graciously covered me....Being picked up by God in uninhibited worship is unlike any human experience."
She said intercessors (3/17/96) were all "slain in the Spirit in the hallways and went into deep wailing and moaning. She says of leaving church at 2 a.m. "it seemed like it was not the same day we arrived...I think it is because we actually do GO somewhere while we are in that building!"
Wood (7/14/96) told of an experience that was "like a bolt of lightning hit me. I hit the wall,
slid down it, and shook and jerked uncontrollably for I do not know how long. It took my
breath away and I was taking deep gasps over and over...my head would jerk...I was being
filled with a fresh anointing of the Holy Ghost."
On the way home, she started "wailing out loud." She said (9/29/96) that Pastor Kilpatrick came toward her waving his hand. "When he blew air toward me, it knocked me completely down." She said, after services, the next morning, if Vineyard music was on, she would be "deep bowing, swaying, and staggering, running into counters, sometimes falling on the floor...praising and worshipping." I reply: "You will be wrong until the Lord comes??? Hmmmmm."
Dear Beverly, we have been discussing, for instance, those who insist that the baptism with the Spirit means speaking in tongues, etc, and is the only criteria to judge whether or not a man is truly saved.
I write for people as yourself, who are unsure and question the faith once and for all delivered to the saints.
I write to those as yourself, who seem confused in where they are supposed to stand.
We are to stand in Truth, and only in "God's" Word. What you define as "Doctrine"; as the very thing that you feel shouldn't be dividing us, is in fact exactly what is and should be dividing us.
Jesus did not come to bring peace but a sword, "A Division - A Doctrine - His word"! The ground has been laid...it is laid in the Truth...in the only solid foundation there is... "God's Sovereign Word!"...not laid in His Love but in His Word! and anyone not coming from there is: "BUT EVIL MEN AND SEDUCERS SHALL WAX WORSE AND WORSE, DECEIVING AND BEING DECEIVED." 2 Tim 3:13
This is as "short and sweet" as it gets! You MUST accept this! Your only basis
for being a Christian MUST stem from the Truth:
"(example) For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son, so that whosoever would believe on him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16."
(The basis is truth: "Whosoever would believe", not love! Love follows truth!)
Do you see the love in this verse? Of course! But the love is there BECAUSE of the Truth... the truth of God saying it is!!!! THAT is why we can believe we are loved by God, and to love one another, etc. Because God, who cannot lie, says it. NOW, If God doesn't say it, what are we to assume? That it doesn't matter?
WE ARE COMMANDED TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER IN THE TRUTH!
Before we can do that we have to understand and know who God is! God is love, but He also has
wrath! The word says that God is love, but it also says He hates (sin, evil, etc).
His word says that He is Truth, but it never says that He is also error or gives cofusion. We can and always will be deceived by love whenever it's Not based upon the Truth, but NEVER will we be decieived by Truth.
God's Word stands alone! It is already established! It is The Rock of Revelation: "You ARE the Christ the Son of the Living God!" Love Him or hate Him...Do what He says or don't... it doesn't matter what "we" do. Nothing will change the Truth!
So, our first task is to get the Truth right...give the Lord of Truth His proper place... line up with God in what He says first... never be satisfied with hearing anything less or more... and then, once we establish this foundation upon Him set in proper awe and reverance, we will be able to ("IF" you do love Him and His commands) speak the truth in love.
Even though it may be totally opposed to what the other party wants to hear, yet it remains the truth!
Do you recognize the LOVE Jesus had in the temple when He overturned the money changers tables; called the Pharisees, a bunch of vipers; called Peter Satan, etc., etc.??
IS THIS LOVE?? OHHHH YES! ABSOLUTELY! THE FIRST AND GREATEST COMMANDMENT: "LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, MIGHT, SOUL, ETC..." Here is Love to God first and foremost above all! And God is... "The Truth"!
Whenever a certain someone puts his "holy Spirit Baptism" experience in first place ahead of the Truth and drives off that, then he needs to be soundly corrected/rebuked (because he claims to have been a Christian for a long time, thus should know better!) and tried to be brought back into the fold with clear and sound teaching.
The man we are speaking of that you are defending, keeps judging people based on "His Experience in '54" of his baptism with the Spirit.
And regardless of what the Word of God says, his pride, rudeness, ill manners spew forth from that experience, proving he is proud and knows nothing.
This is "Deception", and he is out deceiving others and shaking others weak faith (as he is yours) in the truth. This man's mouth must be stopped!
If he accepts rebuke then we have won a friend, who temporarily went astray, but
came around when he heard the truth. Now "IF" he LOVES the truth then he will hear it and repent, and we'll all cry and celebrate our brothers return to the fold.
First we have to understand what Truth is and demands before we can understand Love. Truth demands that we die out of love for Christ in return in order to live unto Him and his words!
There is no second opinion!!! It was Jesus, The Word made flesh...the Truth Personified...who first loved us and laid down His life for us. It was The Truth Who in love laid down His life for We are beholden to The Truth! "Sanctify them to the Truth, thy Word is Truth!"
LOVE MUST REST UPON, FLOW IN AND COME OUT OF WHO GOD IS AND WHAT GOD SAYS!
Only when Love is resting on the foundation of Truth is when we cry with our brother in his sorrow, rejoice with our brother in glad tidings, rebuke our brother when needed...
This is all done in love:
Matt 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
2 Tim 4:2-4 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Titus 1:13-16 This witness is true.
Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
Unto the pure all things are pure:
but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Jude 1:3-5 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was
needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness,
and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
And so, "Love without Truth" will put you, me and every human being into the Lake of Fire! "WE" will all be held responsible for the truth that we heard (and what we did or didn't do with it upon our hearing it) at the judgement seat of Christ!
Unless we all clearly discern between truth from error, then those who are as confused as you said you are will have no anchor for your soul... you'll not know right from wrong, truth from error... what's important and worth defending... what is of God from what is not. Then what do I do? Twist my hands together and worry about you? "YES!" But only for so long.
You MUST see and follow for yourself the first and greatest commandment: To love the Lord thy God
above all, then you will understand that the "second" commandment flows out of the first one: To
love thy neighbor as thyself.
Understand exactly what the greatest commandment is: "LOVE... FIRST TO GOD!" and how do we
LOVE God??? Jesus is God! And God says:
John 14:23-24 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and
my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
He that loveth
me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
HE WILL KEEP MY WORDS! "Bottom Line!"
The man we are talking about in his "spirit baptism" he received in '54, has set up a booth
in God's temple, and he is selling his wares from there to the unsuspecting.
It's past time for the error he's selling to be overturned and exposed (with the Word) for what it is and always was: error, and taken and driven out of God's house. There can be and will be no compromise, no matter how many protest otherwise. We must remain true to God first. Why? Because we love Him above all!
And so, Beverly, I believe you need to ask yourself "IF" you too really do love God "Above All"?? If you say "yes", then that means that you are saying that you only believe and obey what God
has to say and already said in His word, "and defend that word, that faith you say you believe in alone".
"God cannot be seperated from His Word! For He and His words are One!"
In His love for you, Biff

If you think it was chilling on videotape, you should see it in person. He has a woman who travels with him who began the meeting by preaching what I can only describe as a message of covetousness. It was the usual description of her life before and after blessing and all because she had "heard the Lord show her how to roll in the dough" . I don't know if the Lord she was talking to said "roll them for dough" or what she said...but it was clear by the end of her message that everyone was ready to give her their last penny in order to get what she had.
Then the man of the hour, Rocking Rodney Brown. He was preceeded by a musical mantra encouraging everyone to come and "drink, drink, drink" and to turn to each their neighbor and ask them, "Did you come here to drink today?"
Of course, I and my companion declined when asked and didn't sing along with their drinking song. Rodney is very good at detecting skeptics or opposition and so he spent alot of time locking eyes on us, in an auditorium of about 800 people, and using scripture against us...you know, "Touch not mine annointed...yatata, yatata..." You know we were scared.....NOT!
At any rate, he preached Galatians, if you can call it that, after which ensued shrieking, jerking, akin to cerebral palsy, which I'm sure the Lord doesn't afflict his people with as a blessing, shouting, dancing, reeling, basically slobbering. Interestingly enough, the scripture's he taught from Galatians was a stinging rebuke of he and his ministry, but he was too far gone to realized it.
I have noted that when sitting under these false brethren that they ALWAYS without exception will preach against their own selves without realizeing it. Their damnation comes straight out of their own words. Very interesting how God's Word is true and all men are liars.
In summary, what we witnessed was basically a bar scene with a bunch of greedy, gullible people who were more interested in satisfying their flesh than they were in knowing God as he wants to be known and worshipping Him in Spirit and in Truth. That would be too hard for them. It's much easier to have an experience than to go to the Word, a Greek dictionary, compare some commentaries or read some Bondage of the Will.
No, most of them opted to give themselves over to this spirit who was masquerading, at least in their understanding, as the Holy Spirit. It's hard for me to even type those words as what happened there was just plain blasphemy. This man is a master of human nature and psychology...in short, a conman of the worst kind.

Can we get any farther away from the truth than this??? In the catechism they teach that the only way to salvation is through participation in the mass and in the sacraments of the Roman Catholic church?
What kind of a "Jesus" do people come to believe in if they are taught this on a regular basis? What hope do they have of finding the real truth through the teachings of the Roman Catholic church if they are not encouraged to study the Bible and either change the church or get out of it???
What will happen to Catholics who accept Jesus Christ as Savior through grace alone by faith alone in Christ alone and then go back to a church and practice the error that teaches a works salvation???

I have included a few well known catholic church's articles of the faith, defining her beliefs and teachings below of the New Catholic Catechism, published in 1992, confirming the original beliefs and findings of the Council of Trent, 1545-1563, and re-affirmed by Vatican Council II:
Article #841 The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day.
846 Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation ... thereby affirmed at the same time the necessity of the Church which men enter through Baptism as through a door. Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.
969 ... (Mary) Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office of hers but by her manifold intercession continues to bring us gifts of eternal salvation. ... Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix.
980 It is through the sacrament of Penance that the baptized can be reconciled with God and with the Church: "Penance has rightly been called by the holy Fathers `a laborious kind of baptism.' This sacrament of Penance is necessary for salvation for those who have fallen after Baptism, just as Baptism is necessary for salvation for those who have not yet been reborn" (Council of Trent (1551): DS 1672; cf. St. Gregory of Nazianzus, Oratio 39, 17: PG 36,356).
1030 All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation, but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.
1032 From the beginning the Church has honoured the memory of the dead and offered prayers in suffrage for them, above all the Eucharistic sacrifice, so that, thus purified, they may attain the beatific vision of God. The Church also commends almsgiving, indulgences and works of penance undertaken on behalf of the dead.
1129 The Church affirms that for believers the sacraments of the New Covenant are necessary for salvation.
1131 The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us.
1263 By Baptism all sins are forgiven, original sin and all personal sins, as well as all punishment for sin.
1367 The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: ... "In this divine sacrifice which is celebrated in the Mass, the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and offered in an unbloody manner."
1374 ... In the most blessed sacrament of the Eucharist "the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity, of our Lord Jesus Christ and, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained."
1375 It is by the conversion of the bread and wine into Christ's body and blood that Christ becomes present in this sacrament. ... The priest, in the role of Christ, pronounces these words, but their power and grace are God's. This is my body, he says. This word transforms the things offered. ... The power of the blessing prevails over that of nature, because by the blessing nature itself is changed.
1414 As sacrifice, the Eucharist is also offered in reparation for the sins of the living and the dead and to obtain spiritual or temporal benefits from God.
1475 In this wonderful exchange, the holiness of one profits others ... Thus recourse to the communion of saints lets the contrite sinner be more promptly and efficaciously purified of the punishments for sin.
1476 We also call these spiritual goods of the communion of saints the Church's treasury....
1477 This treasury includes as well the prayers and good works of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They are truly immense, unfathomable and even pristine in their value before God. In the treasury, too, are the prayers and good works of all the saints. ... In this way they attained their own salvation and at the same time cooperated in saving their brothers in the unity of the Mystical Body.
1479 Since the faithful departed now being purified are also members of the same communion of saints, one way we can help them is to obtain indulgences for them, so that the temporal punishments due for their sins may be remitted.
To any person, priest or church who preaches a gospel like that above, Paul had this to say:
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." Gal 1:8-9
I hope you are of this same faith as was Paul also.
