"I don’t think anything has been done in the name of Christ and under the banner of Christianity that has proven more destructive to human being and, hence, counterproductive to the evangelism enterprise than the often crude, uncouth, and unchristian strategy of attempting to make people aware of their lost and sinful condition."

"Now HEAR what God says"...

And when he (the Spirit of Truth) is come, he will reprove the world (i.e. "make people aware") of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: (i.e. "of their lost and sinful condition") . John 16:8

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:12-13
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke19:10
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:32
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 1Timothy 1:15
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:36-38

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9

"I am not the same man under the anointing that I am now -- My children are afraid of me under the anointing. What they do not know is that I'm afraid of the anointing too. I'm not afraid of myself, I'm afraid of what the anointing can do to me if I mistreat it. Or if I abuse it or if I misuse it."

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. James 3:17
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Romans 8:15
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Matthew 23:27-28 -- Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. Matthew 13:13

"My mind rushes to the thousands of Christians savagely killed and maimed by the lions in Roman amphitheaters long ago. Their crime? They refused to bow down and worship Caesar. Doubtless some on that day cowered before their oppressors and feigned a rejection of Christ. Like those who were martyred, they will also be saved. But they will not receive * THE MARTYR'S CROWN * (see below) their Lord wanted them to have."

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 10:39

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Corinthians 1:10

Guilt before God shows the need for the Gospel and as such is the basis for the Gospel. Conviction of sin by the Holy Spirit drives the sinner to trust truly on Christ Jesus alone, as the publican in the parable of the Lord cried out, “God be merciful to me a sinner.”

With Warren, this conviction of guilt is reduced down to a psychological terminology, a condition where one “unconsciously punishes themselves” because of their sins....

He states, “Many people are driven by guilt…. Guilt-driven people are manipulated by memories. They allow their past to control their future. They often unconsciously punish themselves by sabotaging their own success.
When Cain sinned, his guilt disconnected him from God’s presence, and God said, ‘You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.’ That describes most people today—wandering through life without a purpose.

Enter in: "The PURPOSE DRIVEN Life and Church" ...which is The Lie against the Gospel of Jesus Christ where grace comes by faith to the sinner who believes on Jesus alone and has their conscience purged of guilt by His shed blood... therefore, He alone becomes their ONE and ONLY life and purpose!

He also states (on page 164), “God warns us over and over not to criticize, compare, or judge each other. ... Whenever I judge another believer, four things instantly happen: I lose fellowship with God, I expose my own pride, I set myself to be judged by God, and I harm the fellowship of the church.”

Such lies!!! Of course we are not to judge someone hypocritically, but we are to judge them on the basis of His word, testing everyone and everything ... “he that is spiritual judgeth all things” (1 Cor. 2:15) and Jesus taught that we should “judge righteous judgment” (John 7:24). We are to judge preaching (1 Cor. 14:29) and sin in the churches (1 Cor. 5). We are to try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.(1 John 4:1).

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. Titus 1:10-11

“Does that mean that you’re saying that you believe that being gay is a sin?”

Andy Stanley
"God I'm willing to accept the goal of reconciliation. God if you'll show me how, I'll do everyhing 'IN MY POWER' to create a safe, relational enviroment." (Sermon - 'The Final Round' - 7/9/06)

I imagine God has a few words to say about this, especially Galatians 2:20 -- "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."
Sincerity has nothing to do with it. Beware sincerity when it lacks the knowledge of The Truth! This statement of Stanley's reveals nothing more than the continuing warfare between the flesh's way of doing things and the spirit's way of doing them. Remember how God's church will be built: ".... Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." Zechariah 4:6

"After all", says Stanley,"God softened His heart in order to get through to us, so we must do the same with our own disobedient children. However, the only way to do this is to be reconciled to them, regardless of what kind of sin they are presently living in". (Sermon - 'The Final Round' - 7/9/06)

What a "Guilt Trip"! WE are the ones who must Compromise or Oppose the word of God if we are to make this work. Stanley says that WE, Christians, (apart from the Spirit's conviction of sin, righteousness, and the judgement) are to be the ones who must first soften our hearts towards any of our troubled and sinning children (no matter what sin they're living in) if we are to be reconciled to any of them who may have left us because of our past, unwavering stand with the Lord and His words... so "Lighten Up", Stanley says!
(Hmmm, I wonder if he ever heard or understood scriptures as Matthew 10:34-36??) What he is saying is that in order for us to win our children to God, WE first must be the ones to soften our hearts towards them and their sin - (which in turn, will only harden them further to His sayings).

So what Stanley and his followers believe is that it is "The Christian" who is to soften their hearts to the sinner in order to be reconciled to the sinning family member, regardless of what kind of sin it is they are presently living in (i.e. "fornication, homosexuality, murder, rape, idolatry, dishonoring their parents, etc.") and regardless of whether or not they have repented of their sin!!! Their SIN means nothing (according to Stanley) but our Softening Our Heart to accept them in their sin, means everything... and, (according to Stanley). Without coming right out and saying it, the bottom like is that "WE" are the ones who stand guilty before God of their blood until we allow them and their sin back in, as if it were nothing, in order to appease Stanley's doctrine.

Stanley just expects us to ignore the word that lives in our hearts and be buddies with the world and the ways of the world all over again, in order to be reconciled to them whether they want it and seek it or not and without any repentance on their part at all. We are to simply overlook and forgive their sin against both us and God (as if this wipes their slate clean with God??) in order to influence them and win them to Christ??... and this is whether or not they have repented of their sins or even care about repenting of them (Matthew 4:17)?? If we are not to live like them, then, according to Stanley, we are to simply overlook and accept all the sin that they've done and/or are living in and have yet to repent of, as if this is nothing... and this act of ours might save them and win them to Christ?? (1 Cor.6:9-11) And this is what some chose to call: "HOLINESS"?? 1 Thes. 4:7; Heb.12:14.

Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Are we to forgive them for hurting us? "YES!" (70 times 7 if necessary). Are we to be reconciled to them who repent of their sin(s) and seek to be reconciled? "ABSOLUTELY!" Are we to do the same to those who break His commands, continually rejecting Christ and His words by their acts and don't seek to be reconciled? "NEVER!"

Although as Christians, WE may forgive them for their trespasses done against us (Matthew 6:14-15) and let God judge them (John 12:48), nowhere in His word does God say that "WE", in turn, are to be reconciled to them, not if there hasn't been any true repentance on their part. Reconciliation can never happen until -THEY- show forth the fruits of repentance (Matthew 3:8) by realizing what they have done, by owing up to it, standing guilty before God because of it. Let them repent by asking for our forgiveness, and let them want to be reconciled back to us and thus also to our God! (This is the WORK that only the Holy Spirit can do in them who ask God to forgive them!)

We are being told by Stanley that WE (Christians) must be the ones to make the first move and forgive them and accept them back into the fold whether they want back in or not (what Stanley calls: "Reconciliation"), even though they refuse to repent of their trespasses, and/or continue to live in a most sin-sickened life-style. We are told by Stanley (and those who follow him) to simply accept them back with open arms, overlook their sinful life-styles and act as if nothing's happened or that their sin even exists, in order to win them to Christ.

By Stanley's own admission he is not only calling the Gospel a liar, but that he, Stanley, is now preaching a false Gospel of strong delusion, presenting what seems a more perfect solution to the sin problem than the one God has already finished by His Son.

To Stanley's comment I say, "If the offense is done against us personally, then of course we forgive them, but if the offense is against God, then they must know that in order for them to be forgiven, He stands ready to forgive them, and does so the moment they repent, come forward and believe! So, it's not our job to forgive them for sinning against God, but His (see 2 Cor.5:18-19), leaving it up to THEM to seek His forgiveness and repent of their sin."

Christ's own shed blood was the price paid at the expense of God Himself, and was required to reconcile us with God by the exercise of mercy with justice. Wishful thinking and the flesh profits nothing. The ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor.5:18) handed down to us calls for ALL men to end their hostilities against God, repent of (turn away from) their sin and be reconciled to God. Anything else is a false gospel.

Mark 1:14-15 ....Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

That is the ministry of reconciliation that we preach as well -- not one where we must unconditionally love our children and be reconciled to them while they are living in open sin in rebellion against God, no matter what sinful life-style they chose to be in. Stanley says that "WE" (like Christ did to us) are to make the First Move by overlooking and being tolerant of all their sin (no matter what), no matter what we taught them. We are to set it all aside in order to "Build Bridges" and in this way win our children over to Christ.

Evidently Stanley doesn't know that we (Christians) have already been given the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor.5:18-19). Therefore - "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God" (2 Cor.5:20). Right Now, Today!

The word of reconciliation has absolutely NOTHING to do with US forgiving OUR children for offenses done against US in order for THEM to be reconciled to US first, and then God second, as Stanley wants us to believe.
Rather THEY are the ones who need to repent thus be reconciled to GOD first... then they will be reconciled to us as well. Their sin is against God first, us second!

Therefore it's not only their "Lack of Repentance and Rebellion against US" that's stopping them from coming and receiving Christ, it's their "Lack of Repentance and continual Rebellion against God and the way God designed it to be" that's stopping them. They are rebelling against Authority" -- and the Chief Authority is none other than... GOD Himself!

Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
So, What Stanley calls GOOD God calls EVIL!

"Now HEAR what God says"...

Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh (i.e. anything done "In My Power") profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
2 Timothy 4:2-4 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Zechariah 4:6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Matthew 16:18 ...and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 2 Corinthians 11:3-4

Chuck Missler

In his book: "The Overcomers Handbook - Kingdom, Power and Glory", Chuck and Nancy Missler claims that it is the greatest work they ever wrote, and they stand behind it 100%, spelling it out for all those who are overcoming Christians verses all those who are carnal Christians at the judgement seat of Christ. This is what I found....

His main topic here is "The Overcomers", and he distinguishes them from "Carnal Christians" (the kind that we see early on in Paul's letter to the Corinthians. Chuck says that when we all come to stand before the Lord, then those who are "Carnal"; he says, those who produce little or few good works, will, at that time; "Be Cast into outer darkness".
The Missler's claim support for their blatantly errant views by their interpretation of verses in Matthew 24:48-51 and what happens to TRUE Believers, even though they may be CARNAL (or Evil Servants) Christians.

He says that "Carnal Christians" will be cast into Outer Darkness. "What a great excuse for being a Christian but not obeying the Gospel!" These are "Pugatory" types of conditions that every Roman Catholic believer believes in... suffering in order to be purged. The scriptures say that they will be thrown into outer darkness where they will weap and gnash their teeth!!! Didn't Christ cover all this for those who have been born again by dying in the cross, and becoming raised anew, by sending us His Spirit? And pray tell, just how long is this condition going to last? - a day, a week, 1,000 years???

To be cast into "Outer Darkness" means AWAY from, SEPARATED from the Lord... Period.

Romans 8:5-9 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Matthew 7:18-20 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Romans 6:21-23 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

According to the Misslers, they don't know what the salvation message teaches, because if they did then they would never teach this unbelief of theirs, and realize this one thing: "That when you die (physically speaking), you die either IN Christ or OUT of Christ... Period. Carnality or the lack of it is a fruit - either of the flesh or of the Spirit. So either Christ did it all, the Old Man has died - Carnality is over - He either brought us (who believe on Him) to a brand new life - OR He didn't do it all in order to purge us and make us clean. So, either we are a New Creation in Christ OR we are not!

So it's not a matter of WHO is and WHO isn't "Carnal" and ends up that way, that gets thrown into outer darkness - rather it's how they ACT - it's what's in them - it's what and who they are - (either as being an "Overcomer OR a Carnal Anything including Christian"), and continuing to ACT that way, that goes to prove whether or not the Spirit that was and is in Christ and motivated Him is also in them and motivating them as well. Pure and simple!

Whenever I hear the Gospel being butchered like this I immediately think of "motives"! Why??? Why are they doing this to the Gospel? Don't they know it? Haven't they come under "His" power and authority? I have to say - NO! Perhaps it's because they can't bear to have and to know that their unbelieving loved ones aren't going to make it to heaven when they die?... and they've found what they've come to believe is a safer, more convincing, more purging and a more loving way, for themselves as well as for others, to purge out the dross of their own carnality in their own way other than by way of Christ and the Cross?
There always seems to be some form of excuse! Ask yourself: Why it is they either want to add to or subtract from the Gospel? What "motivates" them to do so???

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (Acts 20:29-30)

- Beware of getting sucked into Black Holes -

Know God's voice from man's! Do not in any way agree with false prophets or teachers. Challenge them - Challenge what they say with the word of God. If you can't or won't defend the faith once for all delivered to the saints, then it leaves your own beliefs open to question. Say nothing, do nothing and you give them credibility to continue in their heresy. Do not be like the blind leading around the blind. Eventually they will all end up in a ditch (Luke 6:39). Walk in the light, even as He is in the light (1 John 1:6-7).
