"A false prophet is ANYONE who claims to be speaking from a present and direct vision of the Lord from His throne (i.e. "in a trance-like, or mind-controlled state"), and therefore consider themselves to be His Very Mouthpiece On Earth, and we had better 'Listen to them' (if we know what's good for us.)."
Those days of God needing to use the Prophets to speak new things to us: "Hear what the Lord says", are over!!!!
"A false prophet is also anyone who claims to be getting special revelations from God in EXPLAINING certain future events, such as those centered around His second coming."
But we are of the NEW Testament, and God speaks Directly to each one of us by His Spirit, and Indirectly as well through His written word...
So let each and every one of us Beware of everyone and anyone who claims to be speaking for God these days and are wanting to get us to believe what they are prophesying, especially concerning the last days.
IF we didn't have the Final Authority of God's word, and/or IF we weren't made new creations in Christ, we'd have an excuse. But we don't, neither intellectually nor spiritually.
Jesus (as well as Paul and Peter) CLEARLY warned us several times (especially concerning His second coming) not to be deceived by false prophets.
We must Never submit His words to a "lesser authority". ( for instance, relegating the Gospel of Matthew and Rev.4 on to the Jews instead of the Christians.) THAT is Deception and what the spirit of Deception does!!!
We MUST all only hear what we can take and verify with the Scriptures... and we must all learn to take the Scriptures at "Face Value", and not "spiritualize" them to mean something they are not!
MANY will find out too late that they have been deceived, and for only ONE reason: "They didn't take Him as His word!" (they took the words of another instead!)
Can anyone imagine the SHOCK that will be in store for ALL those who have allowed themselves to be deceived, as the five foolish virgins were and those of Matt.7:22 were when they find they have missed the boat???
That can ALL be avoided the moment we begin to take God at His word, and ALL given to and for us as is in simplicity and in Truth, without "spiritualizing" any of it to force it to MAKE IT FIT AND CONFORM TO our puppet god theories.
Jesus, concerning His first coming, resurrection and second coming are all clear doctrines, prophesys and essentials of the faith!
There is only ONE True Prophet today: "The word of God!"
Only ONE of all of these many different "Prophesyings" speak the Truth, ALL the others are lies based on deception.
Beware of false prophets who come to you as fellow Christians but inwardly are subtle yet ravenous wolves out to rob you of your faith!
More importantly: Beware of your being deceived and robbed by them out of your inheritance!

THE TRUTH: The single greatest cure against deception is having the fear of God in you!
The Spirit giving wisdom in the "Good and Right Fear" will be as our Light to walk through the many traps set in our path. Through His Spirit the Lord gives us the wisdom, courage and endurance necessary through the Grace of God to face whatever may be required of us now and in the days ahead.
We must all come to know and have a deep awe, appreciation and reverance for and before God's mighty and spiritual word.
We must come to understand what "Real Power" is and what He says He will do to ALL OF His enemies.
When we realize WHO He is and that He will do EVERYTHING He says He's going to... So take off your shoes when reading God's word! You're on Holy Ground! Never judge it or manipulate it to suit "your" game plan. Bow before it, amen it, and simply... "Believe it and Abide by it!"
and to those who do, Jesus says:
"My words" (not Some or Part, but ALL) must always remain the bottom line!
(Somewhat like the "Pope" does when he speaks, ex-cathedra from the chair to catholics.) 
They went out with the Old Testament prophets who were commanded to speak to the nation of Israel!
(There are some exceptions to this rule, refering to those like the N.T. prophet Agabus (Acts 21:10) and others (Rev.11:3), who prophesied certain NEW events, under inspiration/revelation from God, that did and will come to pass.)
I Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
The lying spirit that the false prophet speaks from is so manipulative of the word of God that it would deceive each and every one of us with its bends and turns if it were possible.
Jesus went into great detail here (Esp. in Matt.24, 25) solely for "our" benefit.
If we want to HEAR what God said, then we need to start taking His words literally (including all those around His second coming) in the fear of God and begin applying them in the love of the Truth!
To "Manipulate" His words to fit OUR beliefs are to manipulate Him as well, in order to make Him become OUR puppet.
When the last days begin many will find out then (too late) that they; because they allowed themselves to be deceived, didn't store up on the wisdom nor the endurance necessary to finish the race.
Is any teaching or prophecy worth that? NO!
And there is only ONE prophesy that is true as well concerning who Jesus was at His first coming, who Jesus is now since His resurrection, AND who Jesus will be at His second coming, and all amened, acknowledged and spoken through the Spirit of prophesy.
That knowledge alone should be enough to get everyone doing some serious examining of the word concerning the timing of His second coming, on their own.
These aren't just "words" to be moved around like leggo's.
This is The Word Of God! One that cannot and does not lie!
"If a man love me, he will keep my words".
Now's a good time to check our love and beliefs and MAKE SURE that they're "ALL of His words" we're keeping, and not some false teachers and prophets.
