The Law vs Grace

Some differences between the two fields of operation are these:

(A) The law curses anybody who does not keep it perfectly... Grace carries no curse!

(B) The Law was given at our expense to make righteous only those who obey it to the letter... Grace is given freely at God's expense to make righteous all who believe on His Son!

(C) The law was given for the sinner, the unrighteous, the ungodly, to prove him a sinner... Grace is then given for the sinless, the righteous, the godly, to show the Lord's mercy!

(D) The law is something "we" do... Grace is something "God" does!

(E) By showing a man his sins is how the Law brought the sinner to Christ for cleaning and saving... In coming to Christ is how Grace brought the sinner to God!

(F) It was the law that taught a mans heart to fear God... Then it was Grace that relieved those fears!

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Gal 3:10

The law is good and it is spiritual - BUT - there is no mercy under it for those who break it! One sin and there is no forgiveness, whereas Grace is filled with mercy, the recipient being sensative to God thus having discernment/recognition.

Obeying the 10 commandments will make no one holy! The law was made to make only those holy who obey them perfectly... PERFECTLY in word, thought and deed. Jesus said that all of the commandments can be broken down to these two:
"Love your neighbor as yourself, and love God above all!"
In these two commands are contained all of the law and the prophets.
If the rich man of Luke 16 would have understood what this meant he wouldn't have ended up in hell. The same applies to all of us today as well (Luke 16:31).

The law IS spiritual! That also means that it MUST be obeyed! But how can a mortal obey it? He can't! In order to obey it that man must be BORN AGAIN! The only way to do that is through having Faith!
In other words, the only way a man can obey the law is through faith in Jesus Christ! He himself must become "dead" to the law and "alive" unto Christ, and this he becomes through faith in Jesus Christ apart from the works of the law.

God knows that a man cannot obey the law perfectly so long as they are mortal. The main purpose of the law is to obey it - all of it... Period - not to TRY and obey some of it with intermittent failures occuring here and there, but rather to recognize that it cannot be obeyed thus proving to him just how helpless he is to obey the law and how unrighteous he is.
He desperately needs to realize what Paul realized and wrote in Romans 7:21-24. Thus no matter how hard a mortal man tries he still cannot bring himself to God! He always comes up... "short"!

Enter the Lord Jesus Christ! Not only did He keep the law perfectly (it found no fault in Him), He also fulfilled it to God's satisfaction. So through Christ the law is done away with every believer. Being crucified with Christ is the way that the law is done with the believer and the believer is done with the law as far as salvation goes. Read Galatians 2:19-21

The law wasn't meant to save anyone, only God's Son is meant to do that. Once a man is born again they are taken from the realm of darkness and the ordinary and brought into the light and the extra-ordinary. Here they are made to realize that apart from Christ they are nothing and anything that is anything is nothing as well.
Christ is all!

On that note, may the Lord alone receive the glory and everything that opposes Him and His will be damned! Amen?

May every blessing in Christ be yours,
Biff
